Our physiotherapists utilise the sports physiotherapy model of treatment. Encourage early assessment of problems, active treatment techniques and rehabilitation programs designed to keep you moving.
We place significant emphasis on a detailed examination as well as patient education on the nature of the condition and the proposed course of treatment.
The physiotherapists working at Mitcham Rehab Clinic have a range of special interest areas and post graduate qualifications.
These techniques may include
Joint mobilisation – gentle and repeated mid to end range stretching of specific spinal and limb joints.
Joint manipulation – localised end range thrust techniques, aiming to push past an abnormal barrier to movement and restore normal range of movement.
Deep soft tissue massage – from gentle to firm deep soft tissue pressure, aiming to reduce muscle tone, increase blood flow and restore normal movement in muscle tissue in the spine and limbs.
Trigger point therapy – the use of deep pressure and soft tissue manipulation to treat hyperirritable points in muscles and alter the relative tone and mobility of the affected tissues.
Myofascial releases – a technique that works directly on the muscle via soft tissue manipulation or indirectly by stretching of the limbs. The aim is to alter the tone of the muscle and improve circulation and mobility.
Mitcham Rehab Clinic is committed to excellence in physiotherapy via staff education and development in order to provide up to date and innovative treatment practices.
